Ever been in a pickle about where to go or what to do on a Thursday night? Deciding among catching a concert, an art opening, or even a snake charmer's performance? What if there was a magical artistic wonderland where a diverse collection of art forms and their practitioners could come together in one event...enter Catalyst, happening tonight, February 24, 2011 and March 31, 2011 from RAW: natural born artists.
RAW's Catalyst will give attendees a sampling of a schmorgesborg of artistic mediums with a film screening, musical performance, fashion show, art gallery, performance art and a featured hairstylist and makeup artist. As RAW states on its website, all the creatives featured are "local, hand-picked talent who have been chosen to feature at RAW."
This novel idea of bringing underground, homegrown talents to the surface for all to behold came from Founder and Executive Director, Heidi Luerra. Tonight, the group, which is based in California, spreads its creative web to catch and spotlight artists in 17 cities throughout the US including Philadelphia, Denver, Seattle, Austin, Chicago and NYC (of course). From now until October, in each of those cities, RAW will host monthly artistic showcases ala Catalyst. Heidi and the two other RAW directors, Matthew Klahorst and Vy Pham, even went so far as to document the spreading of RAW in a DIY documentary, RAWcross America.
A team that not only promotes the exposure of indie artists, RAW is also a good deed doer. Every several months a group of RAW artists host art workshops at the Boys & Girls Club in Burbank, CA. If you're an artist looking for added exposure and to be a part of a group with a heart, too, you can submit your work online to RAW.

No puedes decidir lo que vas a hacer este jueves? Te gustaria ir a un concierto? A una inauguracion de una exposicion de arte? O prefieres ver a un encantador de serpientes? Que tal si existira un espacio artistico que reune un multitud de tipos de arte y no tendrias que elegir solo una forma de arte....pues, ahora si existe una cosa asi, patrocinado por RAW: natural born artists se llama Catalyst y es un evento que ocurrira esta noche y cada mes hasta Octubre en NYC (la proxima fecha sera el 31 de Marzo, 2011).
Catalyst de RAW dara a los asistentes una muestra de varios tipos de arte con una proyeccion de una pelicula, un concierto, un desfile de moda, una galeria de arte y una muestra de arte dramatico y tendra un peluquero(a) especial y maquilladora. Como avisa RAW en su pagina web, todas las artistas son "de la zona y habian cogidos especialmente de RAW para participar en los eventos."
